About these terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to enquiries and bookings made with Mark Evans through DJAbuDhabi.com, email, WhatsApp or another agreed communication channel.
A booking becomes binding only when the event details and price have been confirmed in writing and the required booking payment has been received, unless a different written arrangement has been expressly agreed.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove any consumer right or legal protection that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Quotes, prices & availability
Prices shown on the website are starting rates and are provided to help clients understand typical costs. They are not a guaranteed quotation for every event.
The final price can vary according to the event type, performance time, venue, equipment, access, production requirements, travel, peak dates and other practical requirements. Corporate events, large production requirements and travel outside Abu Dhabi are normally quoted individually.
Availability is not secured simply by requesting a quotation. A date remains available to other clients until the booking has been confirmed and the required booking payment has been received.
Booking payment & final balance
A 50% booking payment is required to secure the agreed event date unless a different arrangement is confirmed in writing.
The remaining balance is due on the event day before the DJ performance begins. Payment may be made by bank transfer, cash or cheque unless another method has been agreed.
If a cheque or transfer is not cleared, received or otherwise valid, the booking may be treated as unpaid until cleared funds are available.
Client cancellation & refunds
If you cancel the booking 14 days or more before the event date, the booking payment will be refunded in full.
If you cancel less than 14 days before the event date, the booking payment is non refundable because the date has been reserved and other work may have been declined.
If an event is postponed rather than cancelled, any transfer of the booking payment to a new date is subject to availability and must be agreed in writing. A change of date may require a revised quotation.
If I have to cancel
If I am unable to perform because of illness, emergency or another situation genuinely outside my reasonable control, I will refund payments received for the DJ performance that cannot be provided.
Where practical, I may also try to help identify a suitable replacement DJ from my professional network. A replacement cannot be guaranteed and any replacement arrangement may be subject to separate terms or pricing.
Performance times & additional hours
The agreed performance start and finish times will be set out in the booking confirmation or quotation.
For private events, standard bookings are priced for up to four performance hours. If the event continues beyond the agreed time, additional performance after the first four hours is charged at AED 1,000 per additional hour, subject to my availability on the night.
Additional time is never guaranteed. If I have another commitment, venue restriction or practical reason that prevents an extension, the performance will end at the agreed time.
DJ equipment, sound & lighting
Where suitable professional equipment is already available at the venue, I can perform using the agreed venue setup subject to compatibility and soundcheck.
If I provide my standard equipment package, this normally consists of DJ equipment, two speakers and a DJ table and adds AED 500 per performance hour to the applicable starting rate.
Larger venues may require a more powerful PA system, additional speakers, monitors, lighting or other production equipment. Where my standard setup is not suitable, I may arrange equipment through trusted suppliers in my network. Any additional supplier or production costs will be quoted separately.
A microphone can be provided where agreed, but MC, host or public speaking services are not included in a DJ booking.
Access, setup & soundcheck
I normally aim to arrive around one to one and a half hours before the event performance time so that equipment, connections and sound can be checked before guests require the DJ service.
The client or venue must provide reasonable access to the performance area and enough time for loading, setup and soundcheck. Delays caused by restricted access, late room availability, venue instructions or other suppliers may reduce setup time and can affect the service where the delay is outside my control.
Venue, power & safety requirements
The client is responsible for ensuring that the venue permits a DJ performance and that suitable access, electrical power and a safe performance area are available.
For outdoor events, adequate weather protection must be provided for people and electrical equipment. I may refuse to set up or continue using equipment where rain, water, excessive heat, unsafe power, unstable staging or another condition creates a reasonable safety risk.
I will follow reasonable venue rules relating to sound levels, curfews and technical requirements. If a venue requires the volume to be reduced or the performance to stop, compliance with that instruction will not be treated as a failure to provide the booked service.
Permits, licences & permissions
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, the client and venue are responsible for obtaining any permissions, permits, entertainment approvals or licences required for the event and for the venue to host amplified music or a DJ performance.
If a required permission is missing and this prevents the performance from taking place, the situation will be treated as a client or venue issue rather than a cancellation by the DJ.
Music requests & performance style
Music preferences, important tracks and do not play requests can be discussed before the event. I will use those preferences to guide the performance while retaining professional discretion to read the room and manage the flow of the event.
Requests made during the event may be considered where appropriate, but no individual track is guaranteed. Music must also be reasonably available, suitable for the event and permitted under any venue restrictions.
Travel outside Abu Dhabi
Standard starting rates apply to bookings in Abu Dhabi. Travel outside Abu Dhabi, including Dubai, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and other UAE locations, is quoted separately.
Travel charges may reflect distance, travel time, transport requirements, accommodation or unusually late finishing times where relevant.
Peak dates & special events
Peak dates and high demand events may use different pricing from standard bookings.
- New Year’s Eve: AED 8,000 for a three hour performance or AED 10,000 for four hours, subject to availability and event requirements.
- Abu Dhabi F1 weekend: starting from AED 5,000 per day and quoted individually.
- Christmas: I do not accept Christmas bookings.
- Very late bookings: enquiries made at very short notice may require a separate quotation depending on availability and practical requirements.
Wedding enquiries
Weddings are not a core focus of my DJ work and are accepted selectively. Where a wedding booking is accepted, rates start from AED 2,000 per hour with a maximum performance time of four hours.
Traditional wedding DJ packages, dedicated MC duties and highly structured wedding entertainment services are not included unless expressly agreed. Clients requiring those services may be better served by a specialist wedding entertainment provider.
Client conduct & right to stop
I expect a safe and respectful working environment. I may pause or end a performance if there is violence, threatening behaviour, serious harassment, deliberate damage to equipment, dangerous conditions or another situation that makes it unreasonable or unsafe to continue.
Where the performance ends because of serious client, guest or venue conduct, payments already due are not automatically refundable.
Damage to equipment
The client may be responsible for the reasonable cost of repairing or replacing equipment that is deliberately damaged, misused or damaged through the actions of the client or their guests, excluding ordinary wear and tear or faults not caused by the event attendees.
Events outside reasonable control
Neither party will be treated as having deliberately breached the booking where performance is prevented by an event genuinely outside reasonable control, such as severe weather, government restrictions, venue closure, transport disruption, civil emergency or another comparable event.
Where this happens, both sides should communicate promptly and try to agree a fair practical solution, which may include rescheduling, partial performance or a refund depending on what services and costs have already been incurred and what applicable law requires.
Liability
I will provide the agreed DJ service with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by applicable law, I am not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from matters outside the scope of the agreed service or circumstances outside my reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow that liability to be excluded or limited.
Privacy
Personal information connected with enquiries and bookings is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
Governing law & changes
These Terms are intended to operate under the laws applicable in the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Any dispute should first be raised directly so that both sides have a reasonable opportunity to resolve it.
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The version applying to a confirmed booking will normally be the version in effect when that booking was confirmed, unless a later change is required by law or expressly agreed by both parties.
